Meno Month!

Truly….every month IS menopause awareness month for those either heading into it, through it or past it. I wanted to take a moment to clarify a few things about this part of your Journey:
Perimenopause: a time when your periods are all out of whack - you can’t rely on them being as regular as they were. This is a big signal. Other things can be certain symptoms too however when ya know…ya know…..
Menopause: a period (‘scuse the pun) when you have been WITHOUT a period for 12 months.
After which you are officially Post-menopausal.
IMPORTANT: many women who are post-menopausal think that this is the time to switch off; that what applied to peri- and menopausal gals no longer applies to them. This couldn’t be FARTHER from the truth: As they say in the world of menopause:
Post menopause is the last chance to get your shit together re: healthy habits.
What does this mean? Read on…..
STRENGTH Training: a MUST for you to keep your bones (and muscles) strong - not just now but especially for the future. I know WAY too many women who didn’t continue with this and now find walking, stepping, standing up a major challenge. Literally: don’t use ‘em, ya lose ‘em. Don’t let this happen.
HIIT Training: If you’ve been reading all of the latest studies and research I have and listing to the major health Researchers/ those in the know: you will have read this is a must as well to age the most healthiest version of you. Not sure you want to do this? Think of the future you; make sure she’s smiling back at you with a glass of Prosecco and offering a wink in celebration of how you took care of her :)

Nutrition: we KNOW our gut drives so much about our health; body and mind. From supplements we need (hello Vit. D and Omega 3’s to start!) to WHAT and WHEN we need to eat…creating your Post Menopausal Healthy Eating strategy is needed now.

Flexibility, Yoga, Mindset: don’t fly by these babies. As someone who literally survived as a result of breathwork, meditation I’m a passionate proponent of these.
Switching off the Social: Need I say more? If so: first 7 minutes and last 11 minutes at night switch it off for BRAIN HEALTH.
Speaking of which MENOPAUSE is BRAIN HEALTH. All we do should focus on keeping it healthy.
Talk, talk, TALK: connect with others (the power of us women when we get together is so beneficial to our brain health; if you aren’t getting anywhere with your symptoms and your current medical professional…talk to MORE until you do get somewhere. There are so many passionate Doctors and Naturopathic Doctors helping us; find them so you can thrive.
Stop putting things down to “it just is”. It’s the time of life. Yes: our bodies change…but that doesn’t mean we get the green card to just stay in the status quo. With change comes the need for new strategies. You don’t have to be overweight; you don’t have to live with debilitating symptoms (or go through any alone); you DO have options (to HRT or not to HRT?) and you CAN be absolutely:
Strong, sassy, sexy and sfabulous (lol).
It all comes down to CHOICE.
Are you willing to stay as is or do you want to FEEL and BE the above descriptors?
